No. 171. Here lieth the body of Fairfax Norcliffe Esqr., who died March 21st, 1720, aged 46.
No. 172. Here lieth the body of Fairfax Norcliffe, youngest son of Fairfax Norclife of Langton, Esq., by Mary, daughter of Thomas Hesketh of Heslington, Esq., he died Oct. the 18th, 1739, in the 36th year of his age; here also lieth the body of Faith Norcliffe, wife of the said Fairfax Norcliffe, she was the daughter of Calisthenes Brooke of Gainforth, Esq., and died the 17th of June, 1733, in the 26th year of her age; Fairfax Norcliffe, their only child, was born 5th July, 1733, he died 16th July, 1733, and lies here buried beside his parents.
No. 173. Here lieth Mary, the wife of Fairfax Norcliffe, Esq., of Langton, she was youngest daughter and co-heiress of Thomas Hesketh, Esq., of Heslington. She had 4 sons and 1 daughter, viz., Thomas, William, who died young, Richard, Frances wife of Sir John Wray of Slenningford, Bart., and Fairfax; the said Mary Norcliffe died the 29th of Nov., 1739, aged 61.
No. 174. Here lieth the body of Sir John Wray of Sleningford, Bart., born 24th Octr., 1689, died 26th June, 1752. He married Frances, the daughter of Fairfax Norcliffe, Esq., of Langton, by whom he left issue, Cecil, Mary, Isabella, Frances.
No. 174. Here lyeth the body of Bowes Dawson, daughter of Anthony Dawson, late of Azerley, Esq., she departed this life the 17th day of February, 1741, in the 8th year of her age; also, of Jane, an elder daughter of the said Anthony Dawson, Esq., she dyed August ye 17th, 1760, aged 28.
No. 175. Here lieth the body of J. Gray, late an Officer in the Duke of Montague's horse, who died 29th May, 1751, æt. 45.
No. 176. Dame Frances Wray, relict of Sir John Wray, Bart., of Slenningford, and daughter of Francis Norcliffe, Esq., of Langton in the county of York, died July ye 14th, 1770, aged 69.
No. 177. Here lyeth the body of Kath. Jane Moody, wife of Jacob Moody, Esq., Capt. in his Majesty's 6th Regiment of Foot, she was daughter of Sir John Dalrymple, Bart., and departed this life 6th Septr., anno Dom. 1759, ætat. 33.
No. 178. Here lyeth the body of Leonard Smelt, Gent., from Greengate in the parish of Kirkby Fleetham, who died June ye 18th 1738, aged 41; Ann, wife of Leonard Smelt, was buried ye 5th of October in the year 1724, aged 28; Thomas, son of Leonard Smelt, was buried ye 18th of May, in the year 1724.
